Just flashed OFT Stage 2 UEL E85 tune. How long should I wait before logging?
Hi guys,
So I actually went up through the tunes gradually, from stock to 91 stage 1, then UEL stage 2, then E85 stage 2. How much driving should I do/what kind of driving should I do to speed up learning. I'm still seeing lots of fluctuations in fuel trim. When crusing my LTFTs are around 0, but it's worrying me becvause when idling it sit around 7%. On the other hand, I'm not seeing an KC so that's probably good. Thanks! |

Thanks Swarb! I did look over that thread. All it says is drive smoothly to speed up learning. I want to know how much learning is enough. For example, Do I have to rev out the engine sloowly to get it to learn trims at higher Rpms? I hope that's clear! |

lol read more. But from what I know steady state is where it does most of its learning, after that (I THINK) a couple long pulls in 3rd up to redline usually does the trick. Like entering the freeway. I'm new to oft too, so I'm still trying to figure out what readings to log and what to look out for. Maybe @steve99 can chime in. I'll gladly send him some beer money if he wrote it up!

Fuel trims are only set in closed loop operation, like cruising. Going full throttle will have little impact on trims , it's only the closed loop to open loop transition that may affect LTFT.
LTFT are set in bands, which is why you'll see different values.

Give it 10 minutes of smooth driving and a couple of those smooth partial throttle runs and it should be good to go. dead pedal may take a few drive cycles to go. if you maf scaling is spot on and fuel is adequate for tune ie minimal knock and iam stays at 1 then virtually no learning is required. it learns timing corrections and fuel trims constantly adjusting if required +1 on what @Kodename47 said |

I noticed on my car, when I accelerate with like 40-50% throttle, the STFT start to go negative. like -7 to -8. Anyway, I drove the car for about 15 miles on the freeway cruising at like 3k rpm. Do you think I'm ready to take a data log? Thanks! |

Wtf are you talking about? Record logs and post em. By now your ecu has had all the time it nneeded to learn. If your trims are madly out of wack you have a leak in your gaskets. If you have an after market intake then you will see problems here as well but you already know all of this because you read Steve's thread.
