Supercharger sand turbos for automatic ?
Hey guys this is my first post. I'm looking to get a supercharger or turbo kit very soon. I'm looking for one to add roughly 90-100 HP and it fit a automatic.

Get a better suspension first. It's a lot cheaper, you'll likely need it anyways once you go FI, and it makes the car more fun.

I was looking to do that after the FI. I was under the idea that the our stock suspension was really good and upgrading it would be a plus, or afterthought

Probably the easiest DIY is the non-intercooled Sprintex, with the tuning from Delicious

You should check out the Forced Induction section of this forum for more info.
I'm obviously biased, but I always recommend the Jackson Racing supercharger. It costs $5000, comes with a tune from the factory, and does not need any other supporting mods. It should put you into the 250-280whp range. In my experience (and opinion), it's the most reliable FI kit for this car. And it fits an automatic with no issues. Of course, turbos and SCs are very different in terms of power delivery, so you should put some thought into which you'd prefer. Of the turbo kits, P&L seems like a really nice kit, but Full Blown is popular. Of course, it's up to your research. Each FI kit has their own Owner's Threads in the FI section. Good luck with your research!

There are lots of reasons to go FI, but if you are only 23, not a car enthusiast, were convinced by somebody else to get the car AND convinced to go FI, you will soon become bored with this car after you turbo/sc it.
Every car is a tool and you have to know how to use that tool in order to get the most out of it. If you bought a Ford Explorer and said you've grown tired of its handling, I would not give you a list of nice suspension. Because of that, if you are bored of this car I would recommend 1. Take some driving lessons, do some track days, learn to heel-toe. If that doesn't work then go option 2. Sell the FRS and get a car with more umph. If option 1 does the trick but you become so skilled that you outgrow the car, then look into FI, and at that point you won't need strangers to tell you what to get because you will have absorbed enough info on your own that you know what you want to change, how to change it, and what brands you will use to change it. |
