crappy factory paint

I noticed that my front right fender has lost the smooth feel of the clear coat after washing and waxing the car. Earlier I noticed that the same fender has faded spots close to the passenger side door.

My FRS is only 1 year old, it's past closing time for Toyota's servicing department. Does anyone know if factory paint work is warranted for a certain amount of time?

I had paint literally flaking off on the spoiler on my Genesis and it was covered under warranty. I think it needs to be something pretty obvious though.

My cousin was able to get his FRS's passenger side door repainted under warranty. There was an area about 1x1" where the clear coat came off, I believe they blended the whole passenger side including the fenders.

If you can't get the warranty approved in SF, check out Piercy in South bay

Paint work is super hard to get warrantied. Ive tried for the last 2 months and they just make it as hard as they can. What you have to do is find the email/phone number for that dealer's owner/manager and threaten to complain to NUMEROUS auto dealer websites, your state attorney general, the BBB, everyyythinnggg.

Is it flaking or just not smooth as glass. Might try to clay as contaminants will make the paint feel weird. Wax can not bond to the paint if its there.

I hope you get your issue resolved. Applying a coat of wax or synthetic polymers every now and then can mitigate paint damage in the long run. The paint on the twins are thin, but nowhere near as thin as the paint I had on my old 2013 MX-5. However, some factory paint is just crappy(Honda), and applying wax or polymers will merely delay fading.
