Airbag light stays on after removal/reinstallation

I recently changed my steering wheel and to do so I had to remove my air bag. everything went smoothly and I reinstalled it after i was finished. real easy, straight foward. everything is great with the exception that my dash airbag light is on (guy sitting with a beachball on his lap).So im in my scion service dpt checking out an issue with my alarm and I asked them to please reset it. 77$ hell no. Any other way around this?

This is completely unhelpful to you, but just out of curiosity, which steering wheel did you get?

Oh, and I doubt this would actually solve your problem, but did you at least try disconnecting the battery? I would assume you disconnected it for the installation anyway, but maybe try it again? I've come to learn that when it comes to electronics, everything runs on Windows and just needs to be restarted sometimes.

Try to find someone with the techstream software and cable.. You can buy the cable for 25$ on amazon.. And download the software on here.. I have it and used it to change some options.. But don't know if there is the ability to reset the airbags.. You might do a search and check..

Hell, if the cable cost $77 I would still do it. Better to pay roughly the same price and have something to show for it than to not. But at $25, that's a no brainer. If it works.

It works fine and gives you all the options the dealer gets.. I was able to change a few things and monitor the engine.. Do a search on techstream and get the latest 8.10 download..

He was probably assuming your new wheel didn't retain the factory airbag since most aftermarket wheels don't.

...I assume.

You didn't spin the clock spring at all right? Because if you did and didn't have it perfectly centered when you reinstalled...$300 mistake.

Did you ever get yours reset? I installed a new turn stalk w/ fog and my light was on afterwards, but the car didn't go into limp mode so I don't think the clock spring is broken, just popped a code that needs cleared.
