Want a BRZ? Check with CARMAX??

Interesting but probably of no significance: An acquaintance who works with the financial side of the company shared that they are seeing a lot of BRZs coming in and that currently 7-9% of ALL Subarus they inventory have been BRZs for a few months. She was curious why statistically speaking a disproportionate number are dumped by owners, often before the first oil change is due. I opined it might be the recent unusual winter weather, first time buyers getting in over their heads, or the harsh reality of life with a 2+2 as a primary car. She also shared that they rarely if ever see WRX STis coming in (which she equated as a similar "hero" car).

Sounds like "on lot" times for the BRZ are rising a bit as well - probably also due to the season.

I absolutely believe the winter is impacting the sales of these cars. Selfishly I'm glad. It's how I got such a bang up deal when trading my FRS in for a BRZ Limited. It's also why I don't understand people rushing out for a monogram. I would certainly try to make up my own deal at the local subaru dealer versus paying sticker for a monogram. Unless you really can't deal with the front lip.

There are a lot of BRZ / FR-S available nationwide at CarMax but the prices are barely less than new. Hell I think you can buy new for less than some of the used BRZs at CarMax.

Just checked...17 BRZ, 34 FR-S.

Agreed Carmax is a ripoff and they have a no haggle policy. You can get a way better deal going for a new one at a dealership.

My dealers still have some 2013 available new and a number of used ones. It is the winter. Even with big discounts they are not selling. It is brutal trying to sell RWD sports coupes here especially with summer tires. If the dealers were smart they would install winter tires on cheap steelies, and include the summer tires on the standard rims.. The Focus ST's are not moving at all either. I test drove two of them over 2 months ago and they are both available from two different dealers.
