DIY Gold Foil heat wrap intake box

C3PO Intake setup complete, (cusco inlet)

Hey club ft 86,

I thought, hmm what can i do to lower intake temps without buying a whole intake box? Gold Foil heat barrier came to mind, i saw people covering ej20/25 intake manifolds with it, so why not the stock intake box? Im waiting on an intake tube too, thatll get wrapped too.

I bought 3 feet (3'x24") from Pegasus Racing, cost $105.xx shipped.
https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...p?Product=1838

took me about 3 hours to do both peices of the intake box, i took my time.

Tips:
* cover up ur intake tube with tape, so no buggers get in while ur wrapping
* clean the intake box with alcohol
* strands of fiber glass may get inside the intake box while wrapping, wipe it down when done and if you have an air hose, blow it off.
* cut the material with a SHARP razor blade down to the end not tacked, dont cut from the untacked end to the adheared section.
* when you get to angles, cut a pie cut, and cover it over & overlap. It all blends in pretty nice once ur done.
* YOU DONT NEED A SQUEEGIE! this stuff lays down really nicely, and u can peel it off n retack with no problem. no waste with this expensive stuff
* around the edge of the box, use the side thats factory cut, or a side with as little fiber glass strands, so those dont go into the box when ur changing air filters.
* there are 2 TINY holes in the air box add on thing, DONT COVER THESE OR THE FOIL MAY GET SUCKED IN (there is 2, about 1/8th in diameter)

all you need is, screw driver, 10mm socket, alcohol, rags, razor blades, & time. oh and $105 for the material

Ill post pics of the intake tube covered. Ill let uk how the car feels after driving for a while w the motor getting hotttt at 7k

I did it similarly to mine a couple months back. It does keep the plastic from soaking in the heat from the header and radiator. I did however leave the top bare.

Also to the OP thanks for shopping with Pegasus ( I work there).

I love Pegasus Racing. How about an FT86club discount hookup?

For those planning to do this. There's no need to wrap the helmholtz resonator box on the passenger side of the assembly. That is a sound trap, not a source for airflow.
