Cut out mustache and replace with mesh grill?

Have any of the BRZ guys cut their mustache off and replaced it with a grill? I currently have the Grillcraft grill but I think it would look better and a little more functional if I cut the mustache off and extended the grill up more. The reason I don't want to go without a grill as I don't like rocks, or other road debris hitting my 3 radiators (oil, supercharger, engine). I emailed Grillcraft so we'll see if they have any ideas or a solution already.

the factory honeycomb grille ala FR-S does little to help against rocks hitting things under there just an fyi!

would have to go with much smaller grille for any real "protection"

The Grillcraft grill I currently have, the holes are fairly small so only tiny things get through. Looking to replicate that only without the mustache.

I was curious as to if you ended up taking the mustache off your bumper? I really want to do this but.. its pretty much the main piece of the bumper and worried that if I cut it off it wont be strong at all anymore.. if you did how did it go. Do you have pictures?
