Ticking sounds from exhaust when off

So get this constant clicking noise from which i think is coming from the headers and down the mid pipe. The clicking can only be heard when the car when I turn the car off and can hear it immediately and goes on for 5-10mins. Am I the only one with this problem?

Oh boy.... It happens on every car. It's just the stuff settling and cooling. Some cars it's more evident, some it's not. You're fine.

As others have said, it happens with all cars to a certain degree. This particular car does it more than any other car I have owned. It is mainly the sheet metal shielding around the exhaust contracting as it cools.

Man, have people never heard other cars be turned off before? Our '97 Ford Explorer did this too and we never thought twice about it. Heat expands, then cools.

This^^^^. My other cars are almost silent after turning off.. But this one
Makes all kinds of snap, crackle and pop sounds for several minutes after being shut off.
Do those with aftermarket headers, down pipes, over pipes, etc... Get the same amount of noise? I would suspect the heat shielding making the bulk of the noise.. On or off this car makes more weird ass noises than any car I have owned in the past..

The less heat shielding you have, the less noise it will make.

The main reason why everyone hears this sound so much more, is because of how much the factory exhaust is covered with shielding from the header all the way to the exhaust. Most other cars don't have this problem, because their cat sits a lot closer to the exhaust ports.

Our cars are unique because of the way the engine is packaged inside the engine bay.

Damn...You have never had any car ever make those noises? I have yet to find a car or truck or motorcycle that doesn't make any noise after turning it off from driving.
