Equal length headers make more power than UEL?

The thread title says it all. Does dyno testing show any advantage to EL headers over UEL headers?

Think of this... Is it easier for air to smoothly rush out equal ports, or rush out of 4 ports at different times, fighting each other. There are tons of wrx/sti dyno's to look at.

Just because the Borla EL doesn't make more power doesn't mean that all EL headers will make less power, the Borla EL isn't the best design.

If you compare a very well designed UEL header to a very well designed EL header, the EL will make more power.

This.

If you do some reading on headers it is pretty straight forward concept. EL will always have the potential to make more power and torque. That doesn't mean every manufacturer will produce an EL header that will outperform a well designed UEL tho.

Check the drift office thread, the HKS EL made very solid gains over the borla UEL (i know that it's Borla not JDL or Revworks). Well designed** EL headers will make more power and torque because they scavenge better taking advantage of smoother, regulated exhaust pulses (this also enhances the scavenging effects), compared to their UEL counterparts in which the exhaust pulses are fighting each other trying to escape the header.

Both Borla headers are UEL. One just more than the other.

The JDL UEL is producing nice numbers so far. No complaints from the people that actually have it and have dyno'd it. The sound is the deciding factor for me. When I go turbo later, I may go EL, but even then the difference is still slight under 400 whp.
