BRZ USB Max Size
I know that the manual says 8GB max, but what is the real maximum size USB key that the headunit will recognize? I plan on getting a low profile Cruzer Fit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA12K0F13305

I have a low profile one like that in mine that I just leave plugged in, not that specific one but it's 32GB and the headunit recognizes it just fine, so it definitely supports at least up to 32GB.

Just buy the ones that are confirmed to work, I got a low-profile reader (elago Mobile Nano I) and the car doesn't recognize anything in it, no matter how it's formatted/sized.

I think the head unit OEM (Fujitsu Ten) listed 8GB in the manual as a fail safe. 32GB should read fine in general. But if it's filled to the max with files and folders, then the system has greater potential to run into indexing issues compared to a smaller capacity USB drive such as 8GB.
I'm running a Verbatim 8GB:

Running this

Man, it takes some effort to fill it up with quality music! |

Don't take this as a knocking post, but rather an inquiry. If you're playing music, why don't you guys just put a 32 or 64 GB SD card in your phone and use it via bluetooth? or am I missing something? Don't you guys like the handsfree anyways?

Been using bluetooth from my phone, but will be switching to a USB drive. You get somewhat better sound from a USB drive (using your radio's converter to play the music files), rather than the phone's converter and analog transmission. I find that sometimes the bluetooth skips out (probably my old phone's fault). Also, you get album art and somewhat better navigation running off a USB.
I do, however, find the phone bluetooth handy for streaming (Pandora & Rhapsody). Need to figure out some sort of permanent mount for the phone to run in car mode. |

Bluetooth takes a hit on the audio quality, but I use it like RobRiot does - for streaming internet radio. Also, my current phone (Nexus 4) has no SD slots
![]() My 32GB USB is always left in the car, it has a variety of Divx movies on it for my kid to watch from the backseat and a bunch of music. All in all, probably around 700 files. I don't have any indexing issues. It's been in use for about 10 months now. |

What other's said about Bluetooth, plus Bluetooth on the BRZ headunit at least sucks ass, it can't consistently hold a connection, i'm always having issues with it, plus you can't browse thru your music on the headunit using Bluetooth like you can on the headunit.
On my USB drive I currently have 6612 files on it and 26.1GB used and still no indexing problems. |

Of course I tried bluetooth! I was excited since entry level sports car came with handsfree music player. Music quality sucks ass. I'd rather use USB with full 320k mp3 file. |

I have this in a 32gb and it reads all 200+ folders just fine.

You guys have just convinced me to buy a cruzer fit! I've always missed the album art and stuff. My bluetooth does skip sometimes. Does the car play FLAC files?
