Used BRZ purchasing price

I found a local BRZ Limited in silver and manual transmission with ~1400 miles. The only option I can see is the rear diffuser.

Dealer is asking $29k for it. I drove it and it drives fine. Looks perfect.

I'm curious what you guys would think a more reasonable price would be for it. Kinda tempted to make an offer if they can negotiate. They sold it to the first owner with a $4k markup.

Sounds reasonable to me with diffuser. Maybe $1k less?

According to Edmunds, TMV is $29k, invoice is $27.5k. Both of those include the $770 destination charge.

Go customize a BRZ Limited with a rear diffuser and see if it costs just as much. The dealer that I bought my BRZ from was selling a used white BRZ Premium with over 9000 miles for a few $100 less than what I paid for my BRZ. Sounded like a rip off to me.

On Subaru's site, the price matches a new one MSRP + dest.

If the person paid 4k over msrp they were an idiot. That car sells for 29.6k new. Thing is someone will pay the price they are asking for and the dealership knows it. I bet there is no way they will budge unless you got a trade in. Even then they will still be making more money by just shuffling numbers around to make it look good.

Just walk away. Not worth it. Patience is virtue. Took me less than a month to get what I wanted. And I paid less and got something new, granted, it's a Premium. The used one the dealership had was silver, automatic, Limited. Now that I look back, I'm so glad that I got what I did and saved some money

Would it matter if it was paid in full on purchase date to a dealer as opposed to financed?

Ideally if I got one it would not have the pricey diffuser, and it would be GBS or DGM color. Silver isn't bad to keep clean though, even if it is a boring color to me.

Do NOT settle on color. I'm not saying this because I have a GBS, I'm saying it because you're gonna love driving this car and there's no point in having perfection being ruined by a color you aren't 100% thrilled about.

I'm with the others. Sure, throw them the 27k offer. If it's a no go, keep walkin bud, you'll be glad you did.

Dealers actually make money on financing (as long as you finance through them), so paying cash or bringing in your own outside financing isn't really a benefit. Private sellers like cash as it's a lot less of a hassle, but a dealer has the resources to deal with the hassle and make extra money on top of the sale via financing.

My guess is someone bought it, took it around the block, then decided they didn't want it anymore (it get's pretty hyped up in all the reviews and magazines).

See if they can go lower. Otherwise I wouldn't bother when you can just shell out a little bit more for a brand new car. Plus you don't know how it was treated for those first 1k miles, and break in is a hot topic it seems.
