I think it won based off of being simple and inexpensive compared to all the others.

Great article. Size of the car compared to some of the "supercars" is pretty decent as well. Here is ours next to a California.

Scans of the article are found here: https://docs.google.com/a/ft86speedf...Vnc/edit?pli=1

Unless you're being a badge snob, why wouldn't someone pick the Ford Focus ST? This is a cue to offer the same old, bored adage of RWD vs FWD, ad nausuem.

For probably about 95% of normal driving, there is no appreciable difference. But for the spirited drives, the AutoX, and the track days, the difference is massive.

Bleh. I am so sick of hot hatches. They are freaking everywhere, and how much effort does it take to stick a turbo I4 in a dinky FWD econobox and slap some Brembos on? Wheeeee torque steer into the guardrail. Fun.

I grudgingly respect the Megane RS, but I just can't find myself developing the slightest bit of interest in the newest ForMazHonRenhall SportSpeed VXSTRS.

Hot hatches are a compromise. I see nothing wrong with that. Practicality and a little speed. Fun but roomy. Light, good fuel economy. Easier to control in slippery conditions.

It's a sacrifice if you want all that. RWD is just gobs and gobs of impractical fun, and that's what makes it great.

I agree that they're a compromise, and using an existing cheap base makes for inexpensive development.

I'm just tired of them. They were new and neat a while ago, but now every car maker makes one, they all look the same, they all roughly drive the same, and they all roughly cost the same.

Care to elaborate? Have you Ever tracked a fwd car? When entering a corner, I'm usually decelerating and under those conditions I don't see why the nature would change depending on the drive wheels

So you want a car just like the Frs because there are too many cars that are alike?
