2020 Toyota 86 Engine Knock
Hello!
So I bought a Brand new 2020 Toyota 86 (Automatic). I have 18k miles so far and the engine started to knock The car is with the dealer but they are struggling to diagnose it... First Time I told them about this issue they could not replicate it, so I had to take a video to prove its happening. I left it with them for a full day to try after a cold start (seems like this is when it's mostly happening) and they finally noticed it. but it's not consistent and it goes away after a while... they told me they will reach out to Toyota to see if other people have reported the same problem but according to them, it's hard to diagnose since it's not consistent... I have seen many threads with the same issue (but mostly older models 2013). looks like it might be the Vaccum pump? (best-case scenario). Any idea what's going on? I will keep you updated. Thanks. |

That’s not rod knock. There is an odd noise, hard to tell. Being automatic check vacuum pump on rear of passenger side head.

Mine did a similar noise when cold. The v belt was dry. I'm equipped with HKS V Belt and laluminium pulleys and bearings.
