Down payment help

Disclaimer: credit cards can be evil so don't carry a balance!
If you get a Subaru CC you get back 3% back to use for a new / certified used or Subaru parts. My wife and I both have accounts and an extra card in each of our names = $1000 per year saved! Our local dealer will allow us to combine the vouchers towards a car as long as both names are on the paperwork. I look at it like getting a BRZ limited for the price of an FRS!

Is this a 3% off or a 3% back in dollars to spend at the dealership?

You get 3% of your cc purchases back in $100 increment vouchers maxing out at $500 per year per card. You can use these vouchers towards products / services at the dealership. Google: Subaru credit card for more details. I put all my expenses on these cards including daycare for my daughter and it adds up quickly.

A local guy here has (had that) and he seemed to like it and does finances for a living so I can imagine it's not a bad deal. He moded out his WRX over the years all for free/low cost thanks to that arrangement I believe.

Will I still get the 3% if I use the card to pay my monthly Phone/Internet/Cable bill?..or does it have to be an actual purchase such as gas, groceries, etc...?

All the other cards I have seen do not care what the charges were other than interest charges. Any charge should give you the 3% credit.

All purchases count for the 3% back. I pay cell phone, utilities, daycare, and lots of work stuff. I would pay my house payment if they would only accept CC payment. ; ) I have used these vouchers at the Subaru dealership to buy a trunk box, cross bars and wiper blades for our Forester. A very minor downside is if you purchase something using the vouchers and the total is less than the $100 voucher you do not get change back. And this is why I bought the wiper blades. I am now at $1400 saved up. My good friend has a CC that earns flyer miles. I am earning Subaru points so I can fly (in my BRZ)

You can also pay college tuition with a credit card...

(I get 1% cash back on my card, so everything goes on the card that I can put there, instead of writing a check. Just don't carry a balance, and you're golden. Back in the 90's I did put my rent on my credit card at times...)

I am not sure where you were asking for help but I have the BoA 321 card and have saved around $100 this year alone. Cash back FTW.

...and in the credit cards are evil category, my credit card has a deal with me where I give *them* $100 cash back each month.

Meh. The Costco card gives you up to 4% cash back on gas. Discover gives you 5% on a number of things. If the intention is to earn as much cash back as possible, I'd learn how to use different cards for different things and bank the difference.

There's really no need to bank money against Subaru specifically unless you already are a diehard Subaru fan. This will be my first purchase with them and probably my last.
