CB install?

Considering a Cobra C 75 WX ST, just not sure on an antenna. I'd want a magnet mount on the trunk, just not sure what will work well on an 86.

Firestik?

Cobra HG A1500?

Wilson "Little Will"?

Magnetic antennas work well when mounted near the middle of a car without a sun roof. First you can eliminate all high power antennas unless you plan to use an illegal amplifier. Second, you need to understand that the most stable magnetic mounts are usually not the best radiating. Base loaded work very well for general use. You will have to balance range VS look and mounting.

IMHO a magnet mount lil will on the trunk is the least ugly option. A Wilson 1000 or k40 would work better but stick up further. I don't know how Cobra CB's are now but after getting a radar detector and a dashcam from them, their quality has gone down the shitter lately. I've had to RMA multiples of all of those POSes. Look for a better unit.

I liked that the Cobra could be moved from the car, to my truck, if I installed a second AC-701 junction box.

A similar option would be the Midland 75-822, but it lacks the junction box feature.

Primary goal for the radio would be situational awareness, to go along with my V1 and waze. Not sure I'd need more than a few miles of range?
