Fuel Pump Replacement

Hi everyone,

New member here who recently joined the club

Anyway, I purchases a 2013 FR-S with about 20k miles on it. After having it for a couple of weeks i noticed this strange squeaky sound. After some research i found that their was a pretty common issue with the fuel pump making "cricket noises".

I took the car into the shop and they confirmed that it was in fact the fuel pump.

The car has a vortech supercharger and the technician suggested i need a stronger after market fuel pump since he didn't think installing another stock fuel pump would solve the issue for more than a few months.

So i'm looking for recommendations on an after market fuel pump that can handle the forced induction.

Thanks in advance.

We call that noise crickets, and it has been discussed over and over and over here.

Your supercharger doesn't matter. The fuel pump chirps even on completely stock cars. There is no reliable fix. Just learn to live with it.

There's two fuel pumps. The cam driven HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) is for the DI (direct injection) system only, but there's the regular pump in the tank as well.

It's the HPFP that makes the cricket noises, and there's no higher flow aftermarket options yet (or really needed since we also have port injection). The in tank pump is the one you could replace, but that won't do anything for the crickets.

All that said, there still doesn't seem to be any complete fix for the cricket noise, even the revised pumps still make some noise. The best solution seems to be adding a couple ounces of smokeless 2 stroke oil with every tank of gas.

It's ethanol content. If you want to try, find high octane gasoline without ethanol. Run two or three tanks using this and crickets should disappear.

I've noticed this when I run between E85 and Chevron Canadian 94 (no ethanol).
