Lowering Springs Installation Cost - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I've been reading the DIY for the lowering springs and looks a bit difficult and I have to buy some tools in order to finish it. I was calling around different shops here in Miami and got quoted from $160 to $220. Anyone in SFL knows reputable shops that can do the install for lower or do these prices seems fair. I just don't want to spend so much time doing this or have a chance of messing something up. I feel comfortable installing mods but suspension is one thing I usually don't mess with.

Make sure they are a reputable shop you don't want to go somewhere that is cheap but they have no idea what they are doing... Do your research on the shop first

Do it yourself. Assuming you have a 19mm, 17mm, 14mm, and 12mm sockets, a set of metric hex keys, a torque wrench, a spring compressor, and jack stands, you can do it in an afternoon.

That's an awesome price. I looked at the diy again and I think I can get it done. I just have to buy a torque wrench and some tools. I'm probably going to spend close to 100 in tools but for sure I'll take my time and extra care.

I was thinking of taking it to Miami Performance Inc. If i can't make up my mind by when I get the springs, I'll do it myself.

I thought the same but since I don't have access to air driven tools I decided not to.

I don't use air tools to disassemble the shock/strut assemblies. In fact, you shouldn't do so as these OEM dampers have proven to fail when it's done more often than with other cars.

I do use air tools to remove bits from the car, but I've also swapped springs with hand tools at the track in less than two hours.

Got mine installed for $60 a corner.
I also needed rear LCA's installed since I was dropping lower than an inch. That was $35 extra per rear side.
Alignment was $60 after everything was done. $370 total.

This is probably a little pricier than what other people say, but I had went to 6 different shops and all the others' quotes ranged from $550-1,200 just for installation.

I never looked over the DIY for the FR-S but on my Golf it was WAYYYY easier with air tools a buddy and I used. Guess next time around (I'll probably get coilovers eventually) I'll look into doing it myself. Where in FL are you located?

$1,200 is just laughable. Spring swaps are about an hour per corner max and since most shops charge $90-115/hr it really shouldn't be more than $400ish anywhere for this platform. My shop charges literally half what it needs to for everything it does and that why EVERYONE goes there around here.
