BRZ on the highway

So today I was driving my BRZ on the highway. The engine was screaming as I change up the gears and I felt like I was driving super fast.. So fast that I was worried that I will be pulled over by the police.

Then I realized I was only going 78 km/hr.

Yep. Whereas in the BMW, you probably feel like you're driving really slow, until you hear the police sirens and look at your speedometer and realize you're going 130km/hr lol

lol it's the opposite for me. I have to watch my speeds since I don't realize that I'm going close to 80 MPH. 3500 RPM in 6th gear is pretty quiet, even with my aftermarket catback. the wind noise is louder.

Uh, you can shift out of 2nd... it's allowed.

How fast you think you're going is really about how you learn to identify speed without looking at the speedometer; wind noise, road noise, road feel, engine noise...

Here's a fun trick to use on anyone who likes to watch your speedo to make sure you aren't speeding. Change your speedo to km/h when passenger isn't looking near on-ramp. Gun it on said on ramp and shift later than you normally would. Lol as passenger goes ape shit.

Does it still work if us metric types switch it to MPH?

No. Then they just say "see told you it was slow".
