How do you drive your car?

Hello,

I see al these topics with fantastic reviews about the FRS/GT86/BRZ, with drivers drifting into corners or roundabouts. ''Such a nice car...the car drifts so easily. Now that's FUN...a great car for the track''

But who actually drives his car that way? I mean: how many of you actually drive the car like, well: the way it's made/meant to be handled. Going to an abandoned road or track and pushing the limits...(?)
And how many of you just drive the care like any other car, occasionally putting your pedal to the metal on a straight, dry, road (hoping you won't slip into the scenery ).

Many of us might never know how much fun this car could be, despite owning one. Naturally: drifting and riding 'on the edge' requires some skill. Still, I'm under the impression that I enjoy the GT86 without having the 'skills' like all those professional reviewers.

I was thinking about this too. As much as I'd love to be drifting and pedal all the way down, there is nowhere within 3 hours of me to do so without getting a ticket.

I've set my car up more for autocross and drive fairly mild on the street. No need to go crazy on the street, save it for events

I tend to go faster than normal on off-ramps and a couple of twisty roads I frequent, but no, anyone who's "drifting" this car and hanging the tail out everywhere on the street is a moron.

I tend to be a fast driver, but I'm not all about drifting. It's fun in the snow and occasionally in the wet, but there's too much at stake to really go bananas on public roads. I want grip and G's. Track days, mmmm...

That said, I will still apex everything. Everything.

Throw really grippy tires on it and then drive it hard. This car handles amazingly well when you can keep the rear end in check a bit more.

Straight line speed is not what this car is about. I have my favorite corners where I will let the tail out. Of course .... not near people or other cars. My favorite 90 degree corner leads up an onramp to the freeway. I've grooved a perfect drift on that corner most mornings. Keeps me grinning until I get to work. Again ... no other cars near me.

I drive it just slow enough to piss people off behind me. Sometimes they honk...sometimes they flash me. Sometimes...I give them the finger.

I practice driving well, which does not necessarily mean fast.

I burned through the set of stock tires in 9,000 miles without a single track day/autocross. I've calmed down after replacing them, but man that was the best 9,000 miles ever.
