Coolant Temps WAY TOO HIGH

Hi. I know, use search, blah blah. Don't got time I'm on side of road.

Was driving tamely and my AC started blowing warm. I live in Orlando, and I'm chubby. My AC is ALWAYS on.

About 5 minutes ago my coolant temps shot up to 240 and my AC started blowing like an oven. I immediately pulled over and shit the car down and topped off my coolant.

Gave it a full chance to cool off. Started her back up but the temps are starting to climb again.

So, cracked radiator or something else?

First: topped off your coolant with what exactly? Random coolant from Autozone, or vehicle-specific coolant from Toyota or Subaru?

Second: do your fans cycle?

Third: Does the water pump work?

Sprayed all over the header. Up on hood. Fans.
Small puddle once I pulled over.

Prestone 50/50. Been using it for two years already.

Fans are cycling.

Not sure how to make sure water pump is working.

Also could I possibly be looking at a thermostat problem? Perhaps it's not kicking.

There's a reason we're supposed to use the ridiculously over priced OEM coolant. Generic off-the-shelf stuff like Prestone is liable to cause a problem.

If you crank the heat (no AC, full on heat on high) does that help your coolant temps? When you topped off the coolant, how low was it? What sprayed all over the place? Coolant? How hot did your oil temps get?

Oil didn't pass 170 which I'm hoping is normal. Coolant went everywhere. I'll try the heat thing now and get back to you guys

No luck. The heat on max and coolant started climbing past 215 while idling

The thermostat may be stuck closed .....if so replace.

To find the leak, I suggest you fill it up with "water" and find out where it's leaking. ...... drain water.

Fix leak.

Re-fill with the OEM blue stuff.
