That's a good point. I don't think 130+ in a stock Gen2 is attainable by anyone that wants to be able go home without a wrecked car that day. Even with the repave and the "flatter" setup, the risk is so high that I can't see how it would be worth it. There is nothing to win there.

Edited to say that if you could get through the Keyhole at a higher speed so you had an exit speed in the 70's then you might be able to hit that speed. I personally don't know how you would do that but it seems like that's the place to get more speed on the back straight.

100% agreed. It's why a pure top speed measurement is largely useless outside of an anecdotal data point, but it's still a reference point.

In endurance racing, you're never going to be driving like that unless you just like adding extra risk and pit stops.

Also, this is with the abuse of a raised 5th gear redline, cuz 6th is just too tall.

Any of you guys want to sell or rent your coilovers and bring the to mid Ohio? We would absolutely pay out the ass.
We broke a shock somehow - without even dropping two tires

There's a seller in Columbus selling a coilover set - https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154863, they might still be available (I PM'd the seller already but decided not to buy, if you think that'll work for you and the seller isn't responding to PMs shoot me one, I have the seller's contact info).

I think you guys got squared away, but if for some reason it's not, you have about 40 minutes from the time of this post to have a set of fresh coilovers there before Noon tomorrow from California. Ash knows how to reach me.

I saw 130mph max speed on my AIM SoloII at Watkins Glen with a tailwind a couple of years ago, in 5th gear (I'm pretty sure?), without raised redline/rev-limiter...

Day 2 with no tailwind was 126mph.

You guys are the absolute best.

So we found a set on some forum and paid them $500 to get here in 2 hours and they did.

My other teammate was literally trying to buy a brz at a dealership that had coilovers while bsp was talking to you. The only reason we don’t own two Brz’s is because the dealership wouldn’t take a credit card over the phone lol.

Crazy situation. We qualified p1. All 4 drivers had practice laps that would make them qualify pole. Everything was perfect and the next session, boom. Old shocks had one race weekend on them.

We’re taking a massive penalty for these shocks (80lbs!) and they don’t have caster adjust. That’s a lot for only gaining remote reservoir in the front, but last race we gave up 25hp and still finished 2nd (and only because the trans got stuck in 5th gear for the last 2 hours). We drove so hard, two races later, we are still part of the drivers meeting warmings. Kinda funny, pretty embarrassing.
Important thing is that the Car is ready to rock.

As to the original issue, we got to about 125.

I bet you can hit the speeds I mentioned if you were uncorked, rather than tuned for class

Probably accurate. We are running at 194-198rwhp, depending on the dyno.

We took home p1 by 5 seconds at the end of an 8 hour race with every imaginable condition from wet to dry and back and forth.

We took an 80lb penalty for the new shocks. And of course we just had to set them at our best guess. Zero testing with them. And we lost caster with them. Can’t believe those fancy remote reservoir shocks didn’t let us add any caster

Thanks for all the support. We (literally) couldn’t have down it without you guys!

Race 2

Day 2 conditions were somehow worse. Included rain, sleet and just straight up terrifying conditions. The first two hours were basically 60% caution laps. I think after 2.5hours we had 50 laps or so in. Wild.

What an awesome weekend. Thanks everyone- especially CSG/mike
