No.

Even if cleaning unfinished aluminum, never use steel wool. Microscopic iron particles are embedded into the surface of the aluminum and induce pitting through galvanic corrosion.

Not too dirty...yet...

Just an old geezer at Orilleys overheard me talking about having trouble giving my wheels a shine since they've begun to have a thin layer of dirt and brake dust setting in on the interior portion of wheel. Anyway, he owns a older Camaro (70's) and he recommended using the wool. His little secret he said and bought like 3 packs. I bought one.

Not sure how to clean rim. Seems every time I clean it, shine goes away?

I clean wheel with hot water but not boiling, brush with a soft brush and then wash once more after heavy dirt is off.

Sorry if it don't make sense. I have a killer headache.

Wax your wheels. There's not much you can do about brake dust, but a bit of wax will make cleaning them off a little easier in the future.

you can also try a wheel cleaner. the one I use turns brake dust into a red color once I spray it on. the one I use is called Sonax wheel cleaner and you can buy it for about $20. you just spray it on and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then spray it off with water.

Bahhhh...

Been cleaning car for 4ish hours with doors open and radio on. Tried to turn car on to swap in garage.... just clicks, wont turn on. No CEL, all lights work, radio too...but just wont turn on.

Fk the wheels for tonight. Im going to bed. I'll look up Sonax tomorrow and waxing wheels after i diagnose if its battery, fuse or starter/alternator.

Thanks guys. Guess ill save the wool to cover garage mice holes.

most likely it's your battery. 4 hours with the radio on is pretty long lol. a jump start should fix your problem

"just clicks" - current not sufficient to turn with starter crankshaft, but slight remains of juice still left in battery. Hmm, radio on .. doors open=probably on interrior light .. hadn't experimented this way, but 4h sounds believable. Just ask some neighboor with jumstart wires to park besides, start up, let it idle for at least half an hour, or drive a bit, to recharge.

Get down in there with a toothbrush if necessary with only car soap and water. It will take time. What I did after is use this 3M synthetic wax and sometimes the brake dust just rinses right off. If not use dedicated microfiber cloths. Spray solutions just cant get into spots your finger can.
