Trunk bracing for functional wing

Hey guys,

Going to be installing a trunk-top mounted wing for next season and was looking into reinforcing my trunk a bit.

Essentially, I'm trying to figure out if I can mount something to "butt against" the downward force of the wing to help add rigidity to the trunk (prevent lifting of the leading edge)

1) First idea is to put rubber butts in upward direction, mount it to frame somewhere near the tailights so it will be pushing up against the underside of the trunk

2) 2nd idea is to put butts on trunk in downward direction similar to this:

Thoughts / experiences?

Thanks!

You won't need to reinforce the trunk for that.

Let us know when you're ready to order!

I made my own mounts for the back of the trunk for my GT 250 wing as I believe this is less flexible than the top.

Below is an example of what a race shop made up for me on a different car that had an SM203 wing mounted to it. While the wing's uprights went through the Kevlar decklid, the principle is the same: wing support strong enough that the car can be pushed by the wing without deflection.

Inside-the-Trunk Supporting Structure (bolted to the frame rail, the floor, and the back of the trunk)

Mounted Wing with the Decklid Removed

Mounted Wing with the Decklid in Place

Just for grins, this is the data for the SM203 (note: I ran the wing flat):

A support of the type in the first photo won't require the operation of the trunk lid to be modified, and it will certainly support a "real wing".
