PS3 didn't have region lock either, but publishers are able to region lock discs. Doesn't happen often though. That means, yes, you can import those awkward Japanese titles you know you want to try but wouldn't buy at the store.

I use bluetooth headsets to talk during multiplayer.
And I totally forgot that I have a .JPN profile on my PS3. I forgot because I rarely log into it. But I can download JPN games through that profile.
