Yeah, good point about the sweet spot. The usual rule of thumb is the lowest rpm in the highest gear without lugging, but I find that for this car the "sweet spot" for me is just under 3000rpm.

I can be in 6th and at 2500 on a country road, and I find I get better mileage going down to 5th.

I have been quite impressed with the overall mileage gains. Before Lucas I was averaging 6.8 - 7.5 litre per 100km. Mostly 416 driving with maybe 20% city driving. Now I'm getting 6.0 - 6.8 liter per 100km. Which is a very good increase. Yeah I drive like a granny on the straights but do carve corners hard. So save some fuel and try it. I'm sold....

Also be aware of excess foot on throttle pressure in sixth gear cruising. I'm amazed how much better mileage can be if you find the throttles sweet spot. This being the spot, just before any loss of momentum. I use the computer and Speedo to help my foot find the best throttle position for a given speed. This has saved me gas.

Anyway I better get back to work. So looking forward to meeting you local frsbrzers...
