Yeah, good point about the sweet spot. The usual rule of thumb is the lowest rpm in the highest gear without lugging, but I find that for this car the "sweet spot" for me is just under 3000rpm.
I can be in 6th and at 2500 on a country road, and I find I get better mileage going down to 5th.

This being the spot, just before any loss of momentum. I use the computer and Speedo to help my foot find the best throttle position for a given speed. This has saved me gas.
