Oil cooler idea

I've been watching all of these oil coolers coming out and i keep wondering why we only see kits that I find to be overly complicated. The oil circuit is a system that I think should be kept as short and simple as possible in order to keep possible failures to a minimum.

So, in that vane, has anyone put any thought into something like these?

If we could adapt it to the oil filter, I think putting it in series with the heater core would be pretty easy. This would keep the coolant flow constant even if the thermostat is closed, it would self regulate the oil temperature, and should be fairly easy to plump to the coolant side.

Any thoughts?
