I did the same things. It was kind of embarrassing. But I figured it out. It has to do with your steering wheel being locked at its turning limit.
The solution?
Just unlock the steering wheel like you would a regular keyed car. (by turning it slightly and then push the button at the same time)
Its intentional and has to do with situations in which you could be parked on hills and if it auto unlocks the steering wheel when its turned to the limit it will swing the wheels in the other direction and could cause you to crash on an incline.
It not starting is also intentional, its to stop you from driving a car with a locked steering wheel.
