There are 2 advantage's of running a upgraded map sensor.

1. Both you and the tuner able to see how much boost you running in the datalogs

2. Overboost protection

Aftermarket failsafes work but do not offer the protection a overboost setting in the ecu would. If the wastegate it hooked up the wrong way or lines melt there so way for the aftermarket failsafe to remove boost. ECU Controlled overboost protection can close the throttle body and cut fuel injectors.

FRS300 wouldn't have a blown motor right now if he had this type of protection in his tune.

Anyone running forced induction should have this type of protection in their car.

It's saved at least 6 motors this year.
