I want to do this SOOO bad. I'm happy to report, however, that I've never seen this in person.

Yes it does. These photos get taken and then posted and if we, sane people, don't bash them relentlessly and point how the 1000 ways in which this is idiotic some of the younger, less mature, more impressionable aspiring enthusiasts may actually think it's cool.

It is so sad that I can, at this point, believe these idiots might think that's a cool idea.

I would imagine they will feel really stupid when they drop their steering wheel out the window and it gets run the F over by a big ass truck and they have to drive home with a pair of vice grips for a steering wheel

Amen.

When you get rid of your control of the car so that you can take a picture, you deserve to lose your license... plain and simple.

I think this deserves worse. Once they take your license they should then take you to the junkyard and force you to watch the last car you'll ever drive get crushed before your eyes.
Yea..... that seems appropriate. Only way to nip this kinda shit in the bud.

Sadly many of the threads are just a joke, that is also why you don't see a large movement from the other subaru boards IMO. People just wouldn't put up with a lot of the clutter and sillyness on other sites, but here we embrace the 16 year old mentality. If you go through a entire page of the general forum you hope to learn or see meaningful discussion but that just doesn't happen.

I disagree. Every auto enthusiast forum I've been on has had folks complaining about what it shithole it is and how all the others are better. In truth, after the vehicle comes out and people start buying it the general sections turn into a place for folks to have fun, scrutinize, hype, criticize, etc.
In my opinion EvoM general section was just as bad back in the day.
It wasn't long there and it didn't take long here before I spent every day in the tech, regional, off topic, and photgraphy sections while checking the general section once a week.
I'm sure we got tons of folks that never even comment in these threads because they're busy contributing.
In other words.....

General Sections on car forums pretty much used for flaming others, inciting the mob, poking fun at people with poor spelling/grammar, and other nonsense.
I thought everyone knew this...

I can deal with fart cans, neon, hellflush, stanced, -5 degrees negative camber, 19 and 20 inch wheels on tiny cars etc. But if I ever see crap like this on a public highway I will call the cops myself, take photos and stay with the guy until the arrest is made. Then I will appear in court to testify against him. Stupid deserves no respect.

it appears im driving fast but due to the slow shutter speed im actually driving about 4 miles per hour in this pic.
Does this answer your question @ HunterGreene ??????
" Careful what you say now... don't let these owners confuse our concern for safety as hate! " Tell me @ switchlanez , how concerned are you about me driving 4mph with no steering wheel?
@ mad_sb how many innocent people can i take out at 4mph? maybe i should just take myself out the gene pool with my reckless 4mph driving?
And as for the dude in the white frs, driving on a highway at highway speeds without a steering wheel is pretty reckless, not something i would ever do. But whos to say he doesnt have a steering wheel on the hub and just holding a second steering wheel out the window to make it seem like hes driving without a wheel? Or maybe we should overreact to the pic and "hope he dies" or something ridiculous over a picture we have NO IDEA whats going on.
/thread. you guys are tools. Feel free to shoot me a PM with an apology guys i wont hold it against you.

Wow. You ARE a smart one.
Tell me what happens when 100 15 year olds in high school trolling these forums because their getting a hard on for their first cars (I was there... I'm sure many of us were) see this piece of art (I'll call it that since that seems to be the stance you're taking.... oops, I said stance...my bad) and 10 of them, regardless of whether their first car end up being an FRS or a 95 Corolla, decide with some of their friends to take some cool pics and they end up in the hospital or dead or causing the same for someone else. They don't know you're going 4... they try it at 60.
You're not being cool, you're little picture isn't cool, it's downright irresponsible. Not unlike videos of pulls to 140 mph on a public road in traffic. I'd say the same thing to them.

To look cool, that's it.

Or taking a picture of you pointing a gun at your friends head. Unloaded, of course, and then adding some cool effect and showing it to some second graders.

Do it themselves, not at 4MPH but at higher speeds and well i'm sure your mind can wonder.
I always believed in the, why take the chance for the public?

Yea... what he said.
Edit: epic multi-quote... apparently I was a little more worked up about this than I even realized until I hit 'post'
