yes! i agree with this! it's just another reason why i have shied away from slush boxes over the years,as they ARE inherently MORE complicated by their very design,and when they break,(and at some point they will),could conceivably be cost prohibitive to repair.
on the other hand,a "direct drive" transmission is designed from the beginning for a very long lifespan,because of a much simpler design mechanically,with the most wear prone part being the "throw-out" bearing over time.this part is easily replaced after say,200,000 miles or so,at a reasonable expense...just sayin'
