I admit my utter confusion. This picture made no sense to me, and the description did not help.
Thinking that they were trying to squish a 3" subwoofer into the 86 initially seemed like a terrible idea (and it still probably is)... but it got me thinking. If we were trying to stay in the factory locations, what's the best low frequency extension we can manage??
In my confusion of thinking ^^^ was a subwoofer, I found that they do exist and that it might actually be a decent idea for a product if the box specs make it feasible.
The floodgate of bad ideas opened up, such as this:

I've done alot of car audio competition in the past, and I'd prefer not to destroy the fun & utility of this car with a trunk full of subs. I shall stew on the options... and we'll see where it goes.
