Unlike many cars that allow you to release and fold down the seatback from inside the cabin, the only way to do this in ours is via two straps inside the trunk - one on each side. So if you hit the little button inside the trunk to disengage the electric release (key fob and dash button) the only way into the trunk is with the key or a crowbar.

You can tell the seatback is secured because if you pull on the straps and then go inside the cabin and look, you'll see two red buttons have popped up at either corner indicating the latch is disengaged. Just pull the seatback forward and slam it back and they'll re-latch (the red will disappear).

Oh and yeah, both my fob and the dash button require you hold for a couple of seconds. It's a little annoying, but I understand why and it would be more annoying to accidentally pop the trunk when you don't want to.
