There is a difference between a car being popular and a car having a certain stigma attached to it. Certain cars carry a certain negative stigma that is difficult to overcome. It may not matter that the stereotype or stigma of a car is true, but it will destroy certain vehicles. This is part of the reason why you never see Hummers around.
