Maybe they didn't check the oil as often as I used to... My Blacktop never missed a beat and when I traded her at 254000km - motor never opened and I bought it with 130000km. As for the 6 speed gearbox - flimsy! S2000 motor is a stunning piece of engineering and I can happily say I've never heard a bad story about them - if I hadn't needed the extra seats I may have taken a used one... For tuning ability then the Civic Vtec motor is well documented for strength where as the blacktop is somewhat maxed out.
