The exhaust note is a combination of external wastegates and exhaust.

The thing is, it's not boring. It may sound boring to you, but when I'm trying to gauge the reaction of your car through the exhaust note, it becomes difficult when the music is 75% of what I hear. Besides, who needs music when you have a roaring exhaust?
BTW. If your looking to get high quality sound, one of the solutions may be to hook up microphones in the engine bay and near the exhaust. Time consuming, difficult and expensive, yes, however the results are marvelous and informative.
