I can say that when I first took a road car out on the track my eyes were truely opened. It was an experience like no other and I was hooked instantly. It is such an awesome experience you will never want to drive silly/fast/crazy on the streets becuase it just can't even come close to comparing.

HPDE also teaches you about car control and stability.
If I were going to 'track' it, it would most likely be auto-x. As RedLeader said, that application also seems like it would benefit most from power available immediately, as opposed to running it up to the redline.

And yes, gem, on a daily basis I rarely exceed 5k rpm. I have a short commute to work (6mi of residential roads), and on nights when I go to paramedic classes, most of that is basic highway driving. I might hammer down to merge/pass, but most of that drive is cruising right around 3-3.5k rpm, 75mph in 6th gear.

This is my daily driver. I am not a mercenary, bank robber, or stunt man. I want it to go fast simply for the fun factor. Being pushed back in my seat and grinning when I go to the mall is worth more to me than dropping a second on a quarter time. I value reliability, looks, cost, and performance, although not necessarily always in that order.

As for how I will drive in the snow/ice, that's why I have a '79 International Scout rolling around.
