Yeah, things like this can take a dump on your general feeling for a car or possession. Kind of like spending $600 for a coating job on the car only to have a car throw a gator into your front end within 3 hours. You feel like your effort, time and money have been demeaned, devalued, wasted.
The thing is, you eventually move on if you really enjoy the car and enjoy it for what it is; an awesome piece of driving machinery that should bring a grin to your face every sharp, low speed corner you take. (or even the faster ones

)
In a year you'll still remember the keying, but you'll have a completely different feel for the car. You'll have had other experiences. One can hope that this is the worst you'll have to deal with so long as you own the car.
