I actually did need a special tool to remove my oil filter last weekend... a power drill and a screwdriver. The factory oil filter was screwed on way too tight to take it off by hand. I know, a filter wrench would have done the job but I didn't have one in the right size and it's always fun to do things using what you have at hand.



Anyways yeah I paid $71 in parts to do the oil change myself (plus another $24 for a Fumoto drain valve), but the knowledge that my car remains unmolested by incompetent techs is ... priceless.
