I'd like to add my two cents:

I used to have the Tein-S springs with Tokico Illuminas on my '91 Turbo and while I LOVED the razor sharp turn-in and responsive steering, I ended up blowing the rear shocks just 5,000 miles into the whole venture This probably happened for two reasons: 1) I travel down a pothole ridden So-Cal freeway everyday so I was really running a risk by daily driving my beloved 'Two 2) I did not modify the bump stops at all and I ran the highest shock setting. In hindsight this was a retarded idea but what can I say- the handling benefits were addicting

Since this whole suspension fiasco, I now run the stock OEM shock and spring set-up. Indeed I compromised killer handling characteristics for ride comfort and durability, but it's realistically the most ideal set-up for my driving habits. Plus, I paid about $100 per shock for the OEM units so the price is right

If I were to do it all over again I would probably still stick with the Tein-S springs with the Tokico Illuminas but I would be smart enough to turn down the stiffness a bit and perhaps modify the bump stops.

That's my .02 cents. Okay, it was more like .25 cents
