My eyes have been playing mean tricks on me with regards to the rear trunk/hatch area. I really can't tell with all the swirly camo. I sure you are right. Any chance you can point out what you see by drawing on a pic or describing what you see?

Yes it appears that way. If you read what Jack Hollis said "Now before I get too far into where the FR-S Concept COULD go" and "While only a concept the FR-S shows what is possible with Scion owners’ creativity and easy ability to personalize" it appears the FR-S was to show what a tuning house could do.
