I purchased a tranny jack adapter for my floor jack from Princess Auto.
Unfortunately with my car on four jack stands the unit would lower the tranny but not enough to clear the cars bellypan. The car should have been a couple inches higher. We ended up lowering the jack and muscling the tranny off the jack onto the ground and dragging it out out from under the car. To re-install we just put the tranny on a mat and dragged it back under the car where two of us lifted it into position with some massive rocking effort to get it up against the bell housing.
