Yes, I see where you're stuck with 2.4L FA24 now.
I think this choice was more Subaru side decision who has much bigger stake in the USA/Canada region.

You see with Toyota, Honda, or Nissan it isn't the case where you see many 2.0L and smaller engine sizes for specifically the European and Japanese markets. This is the primary reason the A90 Supra comes in the 2.0L turbo, which really has no reason to exist in the USA.
