Typically I use new fasteners when I've lost the originals

Or, I replace them with cable ties, or ducr tape

If, by chance, I have not lost said fasteners, I do use one of the 3 variants of locktite I have on the shelf

And always with the help of my trusty torque wrenches, both of which, have never actually been properly calibrated, apart from my firm belief in hopes and dreams

Unless head bolts, I always play the new game with head bolts, typically, disclaimer: above mentioned, uncalibrated torque wrenches are used with head bolts, just like every other fasteners that I can find a value or procedure for
