The worlds infrastructure wasn't destroyed then either. Those events turned the USA from a backwards (compared to Europe at the time), isolationist, impoverished nation to what it is today. Industry made a killing from your examples.

I know it appears that I am preaching doomsday. I am not. I am just attempting to express that things are no longer going to be what they were. You of all people should understand that since you saw the stone tool makers lose their jobs to bronze!
