I currently run 0w40. I've thought about trying 5w30 or 5w40 to see how my pressures react at those higher temps. Maybe, my next oil change I might give a different weight a try.
I definitely agree that a quality oil even at 270 would resist breakdown quite well. It's really the pressures that have me a bit concerned.
