I have multiple pairs of Crocs, great for walking to the showers, excellent toe protection, and they come with a safety (strap), which, if the DO is gullible, can be worn with socks into the mess.

I even have a digicam pair I picked up in camp holland, TK circa 2008.

Disclaimer: Crocs are like ice skates on mud.
