Is there any way we can get an official statement from Toyota/Subaru? Does anyone know a person that can get this?
Subaru and Toyota have issued several statements on the issue, this forum just chooses to ignore them.

Latest from the Subaru rep I've been working with on my front bumper cover fitment issues is that they've logged enough complaints and a resolution is being worked on by Toyota. No info past that.

He stressed again, and cited Toyota as saying this as well, that it is not a detrimental problem to the engine or the fuel system. Adding anything other than actual fuel lubricant (he mentioned zMax, but I'm sure other brands are fine) such as 2-stroke oil can be potentially harmful to the motor and would recommend against it.

To anyone looking for a repair in the form of a TSB that's pouring gunk in their fuel tank should consider this, as your claim could very well be denied if they detect additives in your fuel. They have eyes on these open forums and know what users are doing with a surprising amount of clarity.
