Everyone is just speculating at the moment, why not wait till the official word from Toyota.
Has anyone looked through the contract to see if they have any legal standing to be able to change things like this without notification? did you read anything you signed when you ordered it?
That document is the official word from Toyota; I saw it today as well. It was emailed from Toyota Aus HQ to the dealer management, and was not supposed to have been shown to the public, but i would have uploaded it too if blood86 hadn't.

It quite clearly states that anything built from September onwards will not have the spare and rubber mat, no mention at all of protection for existing orders. There is a clause in the full Terms and Conditions of new car contracts (available from your relevant state's governing body) that allows pricing changes and specification changes in extenuating circumstances.

Most reputable dealers will apologise and MAYBE offer a token of goodwill even though it is beyond their control. There will be no specific "promise" or mention of the spare wheel in contracts as it was not anticipated.

Completely agree that this is frustrating, but it has happened and if you're going to break your dealer's balls about something they can't control then I'm glad that I'm not the one dealing with you.
