His statement insinuated that Scion was like Hyundai. Hyundai is as we know from the past, not very reliable (different today, but that was their rep). In terms of reliability....Scion IS Toyota. In terms of marketing Scion is not Toyota (boring eco cars), and it sure as hell not Hyundai in marketing either.
In the end....His statement was dumb.
Scion was created to tap into the younger demographic than what Toyota has. After the Scion generation got older, the idea was for them to slide over into the Toyota line of vehicles as it fit their growing family needs.
