I paid $300 to have the third member set up since I did not have the tools to do this. Note that I brought the third member to the differential shop so the $300 is just to clean, disassemble, install the gears and bearings, shim for proper wear pattern, set crush sleeve and preload, etc. Local rates will vary; this should be a good ballpark figure.
I removed/installed the third member myself, but I imagine a shop would charge another $200-$300 to do that.
